Just what the title says

This book speaks for itself and contains the official VH1 top 100 songs of the 80s, although seven of those are omitted due to licensing restrictions, mainly the Michael Jackson songs, but almost all the popular songs that helped define that decade are here, and sound great. This book is huge and puts all my other books to shame in terms of size, its nearly 600 pages, meaning the songs are in full version and not just improvised or shortened. The bad news is, due to its size the pages are hard to keep open so you may need to place something in front of them so you can read the music without having to keep catching the page from closing. Overall, I am pleased with the book and if you are a casual fan of the 80s, this will be the only 80s piano songbook you may need, and its great for gatherings and family parties, since most people recognize these tunes.

If you are searching for a music book for piano or a synthesizer, then this is the book to buy if you like 80's music and you are tired of buying music books that you play one time and it sits in the music bench forever. The songs are arranged well and are easy to play. They sound like the originals. I read a review and thought it will be like every other book, sits in the bench....but to my surprise it was great. I have purchased so many books and they are not good. I am tired of buying books that do not come close to sound like the original song.

This book does not contain 100 songs...does not have Billie Jean.....Beat It..Hungry like the Wolf..Too Shy..Born in the USA..Round and Round..Rock me Amadeus.

I use this book every day on both my piano and my synthesizer and it sounds great. To my surprise, "I Ran" ,"Call Me", and "Sweet Child O' Mine" "White Wedding" and "Our Lips are Sealed" are really fun to play. I really enjoy this book.

Nothing to rave about

The book looked good on the outside, but the inside was hideous. Some of the songs in this book should have never been transcribed for piano music. Example, why have Public Enemy's "Fight the Power" on here, there is only a couple notes to play on the piano with the rest just lyrics, do the publishers expect me to have Flavor Flav sitting next to me while I play the piano so it sounds good?. There are a few other rap songs on here that don't make much sense to play on the piano. What surprised me the most was on the back of the book it says that songs with a star next to them have been cut out of the book do to copyright issues, and those songs they cut out were some really good ones I would of liked to play on the piano. There are really only I would say 10 songs on here that are good to play on the piano, the rest I think are boring and worthless to play.

About the Author
Fr. Richard Rohr is a globally recognized teacher and the founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC.org) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His teaching is grounded in the Franciscan alternative orthodoxy—practices of contemplation and self–emptying, expressing themselves in radical compassion, particularly for the socially marginalized. He is also the academic dean of the Living School for Action and Contemplation. If You Like Rohr, You'll Like This.

I've read most of Rohr's other books, have listened to many of his recordings (uh heh), I get his daily meditation, etc., so maybe I was expecting too much when I pre-ordered the book as a result of him touting it in August and September of 2016. I was expecting more detail on how/who came up with the concept of Trinity in the first place and how it has been deemed central-but-ineffable by the Church. Alas, it was not to be. I found the book interesting, but I really didn't learn anything that Rohr hadn't already said numerous times elsewhere.

I felt like this was an attempt to define the indefinite, and it seemed another much-too-labored attempt at quantifying the number of angels on the head of a pin. "Trinity" could have just as well been called "Divine Dance of which we're a part," and we'd be done with it. But trying to define some triune nature of God fell flat for me. His central points have been made elsewhere, and this book could have been distilled into a much, much shorter treatise.

What I couldn't answer was, "What makes this book different? What is he offering here that he hasn't offered elsewhere in a myriad of ways?" If you like Rohr, you'll probably like this. What I couldn't quite understand were all of the breathless accolades in the front matter of the book, nor all of the 5-star ratings on Amazon. It's a good book but, again, if you've read Rohr's other work, read his daily meditations, and listened to his audio recordings, you'll find much of The Divine Dance redundant and repetitious. Triune, Trinity, Trinitarian...it's the cosmic dance of which we're all a part. But trying to operationalize and legitimize an old doctrine seems tortured at best. If humans are part of the divine dance, then why is the concept of three necessary? Or, if you want to carry the number three forward, why aren't there two parts of God with humans completing the trinity as the third part since we're an integral part of the dance?

Rohr has said numerous times that he's often run afoul of the church hierarchy and the non-questioning members of his congregations. This felt like a bit of a half-hearted attempt to return to dogma--for what reason, I can't fathom.

Rohr acolytes, please save your "Comments" for someone else. Sorry, but there's no need for your attempts at exegesis, exposition, or "you just don't get it." Just enjoy the book you've read or are about to read. I bless you on your journey.

The Divine Dance

Franciscan priest Richard Rohr considers The Divine Dance the most important book he has ever written. I concur that this is indeed a very important book.
His thesis is that whatever is going on in God is like dancing, a flowing of life. Knowledge of God is participatory; it is knowing from within, from participating in the dance. Sin is stopping the flow of the dance. Moreover, he says, “What physicists and contemplatives alike are confirming is that the foundational nature of reality is relational; everything is in relationship with everything else” (page 69). Being a psychiatrist, I would add that behavioral science and neuroscience are confirming the same.
The book contains important take home messages. Among my favorites are the following:
Messages about God: “Whatever is going on in God is a flow, a radical relatedness, a perfect communion between Three [Father, Son and Holy Spirit for a Christian]—a circle dance of Love. And God is not just a dancer; God is the dance itself” (page 27). “… God … is actually inter-being …” (page 82). God loves you, not because you are good, but because God is good (page 110). “The cross is the standing icon and image of God, showing us that … God is in the suffering with us” (page 132). “Jesus became incarnate to reveal the image of the invisible God” (page 174).
Messages about the universe and us: “Our starting place was always original goodness, not original sin” (page 32). “Personhood is not a static notion, but an entirely dynamic and relational one … our original identity in God. All human personhood implies a process of coming to be in love! Sin is every refusal to move in the direction of our deepest identity as love” (page 77). “…this ‘whole creation itself … [is being] brought into the same glorious freedom as the children of God’ and is ‘groaning in one great act of giving birth’” (page 114). “Humans change in the process of love-mirroring, and not by paying any price or debt” (page 132). “Creation just keeps unfolding …” (page 147).
The book ends with a quote from Catherine of LaCugna: “The very nature of God, therefore, is to seek out the deepest possible communion and friendship with every last creature on this earth” (page 194).
An appendix describes seven practices for experiencing the Trinity.
I highly recommend this book for people of all faiths who seek inspiration for living in our current time of increasing interconnectedness.

Nearly too late for me but richly welcomed and appreciated'

If I had this information back in the 40's I would most likely remained in Catholisism. I failed to hear the Good News until I was in my mid-seventies with a non-denominational Evangelical Church. If I heard any of this when a child I was too young to understand but I am convinced that at the time in the "earlier" Church that this theology wasn't taught (or it went over my head). Very happy that it now entered my life while still able to comprehend it. I thank God now for being led to Richard Rohr by Wm Paul Young through his website and book,"The Shack".

About the Author
Gregory Orfalea was born and raised in Los Angeles. He directed the writing program at Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges, and he currently teaches Arab American literature at Georgetown University. The author of two acclaimed histories, The Arab Americans: A History and Messengers of the Lost Battalion, in 2009 he published a collection of memoirs and personal essays, Angeleno Days. He divides his time between Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.

About the Author

Jurgen Brunner

Jurgen Brunner is currently working as a game designer and an indie developer in Austria and Germany. You can definitely call him a video game enthusiast, which he has been since the 1980s. Remembering the first gaming sessions on a friend's Amiga 500, he tries to stay as connected as possible to the main goal of every game: fun! He studied game design and music at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, and received his degree in 2010 with the diploma thesis "Jump 'n' Run Evolution". While working as a researcher at the Pervasive experience lab (P.e.l.s) in his former university, he had the privilege of exploring augmented reality and pervasive games as well as Kinect hacks. Jurgen made his way to the professional gaming industry as a game and level designer in 2012. Besides this, he also works on his own indie games. His love and passion for retro graphics, music, and art can be experienced in every new game and in every new song. The greatest success of his indie career so far might be the release of the award winning game Pitiri 1977 on Steam in 2014. Besides working on games, he is also a passionate musician. An Excellent Introduction to Video Game Design

To a lot of people, video game design seems like the kind of career that's almost impossible to break into. Take me, for example, circa 1994. As a budding video game enthusiast, I wanted nothing more than to become a programmer for Nintendo. Of course, what my 8-year-old counterpart didn't realize at the time was that becoming a game designer for a triple-A company is about as easy as becoming an astronaut. The reality of the situation is that video game design requires a solid background in Computer Science, Mathematics and Art.

This is exactly the kind of background that I didn't have when I was 8 and it's still not the background I have today. Fortunately for me, there's Clickteam Fusion 2.5 and an even better resource that goes along with it: "Getting Started with Clickteam Fusion". Jürgen Brunner, who's a bit of a game enthusiast himself, dispels a myth that a lot of people have about breaking into video game design - that it's impossible to create a game, let alone make one without a background in programming and art.

The only thing that you need to make a game, Brunner asserts, is the drive to see your vision come to life. This starts with a prototype of the game followed by several tests: the alpha phase, closed beta test and open beta test. The light at the end of this tunnel of course is the gold release. This is something that I thought was only reserved for AAA titles. The fact that you can have one for an indie game really excited me when Brunner explained that - and this is where the book starts to get really interesting.

After providing readers with an overview of the game design process, Brunner takes a look at the various tools and resources that are available in Fusion. He then devotes the rest of his book to the mechanics of game design and how they're handled in the program. If you want to export your game to a mobile platform, then don't worry - Brunner has you covered. The epilogue that he provides is essentially an introduction to Fusion's export function and the different mediums that it supports.

Overall, I found this book to be very useful. I may not know nearly as much about game design as Brunner might but that doesn't mean I'm intimidated by it. The key point that Brunner makes throughout the book is that game design can be a worthwhile hobby or even career if you have the drive to go along with it. Although the latest version of Fusion isn't available as a free download (as of this writing), I think that anyone who reads this book should purchase the full version if they're really adamant about creating games. Highly recommended.

The perfect book to start using Fusion for those game developers wannabes.

This book is a hands-on introductory guide to Clickteam fusion as a game development tool. It is intended for people that have not experience coding but aims to create a game at their own.

The book has a tutorial like style and comes with several examples in a complementary zip file downloadable from the packtpub website [...]
The book covers the basics of fusion user interface, how to create your first game, the fusion picture, frame and animation editor, how to treat with graphics, control event and movements, apply basic physics, collide detection, using extensions, define some AI to create enemy behaviors, create health and ammo bars, how to adapt to the right resolution of the screen, how to save the game score, how to add a soundtrack, and finally how to export your work for different platforms.

The most interesting aspect of this book is their clarity because it directly exposes how to do the thing and about the Fusion tool it really can help because its very intuitive and graphical so anybody can create an acceptable game with a very little effort.

However the book doesn't cover advanced settings as complicated physics. Nevertheless is a very good book and tool to those game developers wannabes.

This book is very good for both new and intermediate users of Clickteam Fusion 2.5

It covers the basic usage and then goes into some more advanced issues to get users to the next level of game development.
If you have seen some of authors game creations like Pitiri 1977 -- [...]
You know he is an expert user of the tool.
